BY JOHN HOBBS MA ’14
PROFESSOR CLINICAL SCHOLAR-PHYSICAL THERAPY Lori Michener has been recognized with the 2022 Founders Award by the American Society of Shoulder and Elbow Therapists (ASSET).
ASSET proudly recognizes Lori Michener “for fusing vision, leadership, generosity and selflessness to nurture our unique society,” reads the award.
The Founders Award is meant to recognize those who clearly demonstrate a spirit of adventurous vision and persistent dedication to ASSET’s mission, assisting the group’s venture to reach truly new and unique destinations.
ASSET is a group of physical therapists, occupational therapists and athletic trainers that share a common interest in shoulder and elbow rehabilitation.
It is considered a leading source of knowledge regarding exemplary clinical care and outcomes oriented research in shoulder and elbow rehabilitation.
“ASSET has been and continues to be so important for my growth and development as both a clinician and researcher. The wealth of knowledge and collegiality of the members allows for deep discussions and sparks new ideas and ways to think about how best to treat patients with shoulder and elbow problems,” said Michener, who joined the group in 1999. “I would not be the clinician and researcher I am today without all the friends and colleagues in ASSET!”
