PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS

Dr. Valerie Teglia is one of two directors of Clinical Education program. Her clinical background is in neurological physical therapy, where her passion is for treating patients with spinal cord injury. She has worked across the continuum of care, including acute care, outpatient, a transitional living center and inpatient rehabilitation. She has also worked with pediatric patients in home/early intervention and school-based settings.

Dr. Teglia is a Credentialed Trainer for the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Level 1 and Level 2 Clinical Instructor Credentialing Program (CCIP) courses and is the Chair of the Southern California Physical Therapy Clinical Education Consortium, IACCC. She has a certification in Applied Positive Psychology from the Flourishing Center and has attended continued education coursework in both motivational interviewing and appreciative inquiry. Dr. Teglia is also active within the California Physical Therapy Association (CPTA). Dr. Teglia’s current interests relate to student development in the areas of professionalism, communication, resilience and the affective domain.
