Overview
At Keck Hospital of USC, we offer advanced physical therapy management of patients with heart-related and lung-related problems. We specialize in creating a customized treatment plan for each patient that includes a physical examination and thorough medical history review, and considers the patient’s goals for recovery.
Our clinicians provide expert care that may include:
- Interval exercise training
- Education on breathing techniques
- Chest wall and thoracic mobility
- Strengthening muscles important for posture and breathing
- Education and teaching of airway clearance techniques
- Aerobic and anaerobic activities
- Education of appropriate exercise parameters
- Reconditioning of the heart and lungs

We offer physical therapy services to address physical problems and activity limitations for the following heart and lung disorders:
- Heart failure, myocardial infarction
- Post heart transplant
- Cystic fibrosis
- Coronary artery bypass graft (CABG)
- Heart valve disorders
- Pulmonary dysfunction (COPD, emphysema)
- Mechanical circulatory support devices
