Kimiko Yamada practices at USC Physical Therapy, a faculty practice of the USC Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy. She specializes in oncology, lymphedema and orthopedic-related disorders. Dr. Yamada is certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist. Dr. Yamada is also a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC), a Certified Lymphedema Specialist (CLT) and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the California Physical Therapy Association. She is an associate editor of the musculoskeletal imaging feature in the Journal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy (JOSPT) Cases and a member of the Academy of Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Imaging SIG.
Dr. Yamada is an associate professor of clinical physical therapy in the USC Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy. She is the director of the USC Oncology Physical Therapy Residency Program. She teaches in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program for content related to oncology curriculum, imaging, therapeutic exercise and therapeutic modalities. She is an APTA-credentialed clinical instructor for physical therapy student interns. Dr. Yamada is involved in clinical physical therapy research and has publications related to self-efficacy, low back pain and imaging in physical therapy practice. She is also currently involved in research for lymphedema management and physical therapy after head and neck cancer treatment.
