Overview

At Keck Hospital of USC, we offer advanced physical therapy management of patients with heart-related and lung-related problems. We specialize in creating a customized treatment plan for each patient that includes a physical examination and thorough medical history review, and considers the patient’s goals for recovery.

Our clinicians provide expert care that may include:

  • Interval exercise training
  • Education on breathing techniques
  • Chest wall and thoracic mobility
  • Strengthening muscles important for posture and breathing
  • Education and teaching of airway clearance techniques
  • Aerobic and anaerobic activities
  • Education of appropriate exercise parameters
  • Reconditioning of the heart and lungs

We offer physical therapy services to address physical problems and activity limitations for the following heart and lung disorders:

  • Heart failure, myocardial infarction
  • Post heart transplant
  • Cystic fibrosis
  • Coronary artery bypass graft (CABG)
  • Heart valve disorders
  • Pulmonary dysfunction (COPD, emphysema)
  • Mechanical circulatory support devices
