Bianca Mendonça is a clinical instructor of physical therapy at the USC Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy. She practices at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and treats children of all ages with a variety of neurologic, orthopedic, cardiac, hematologic/oncologic and neurodevelopmental diagnoses. She also works as an early intervention physical therapist (birth to three years). Dr. Mendonça is a board-certified clinical specialist in pediatric physical therapy and a member of the Academy of Pediatric Physical Therapy Practice Committee. She is also an APTA-credentialed clinical instructor.
Dr. Mendonça is interested in the impact of culturally based caregiving practices on the motor development of young children. She has developed and taught continuing education courses on this topic and is the main author of a systematic review that examines whether motor development assessments commonly used by professionals involved in developmental surveillance are valid across cultures.
