Professional Interests

While employed at USC, Dr. Johnson practices at USC Physical Therapy Associates at University Park Campus; a faculty practice within the Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy at the University of Southern California. He specializes in the treatment of all Orthopedic disorders and has a passion for treating low back pain and shoulder pain. Dr. Johnson is a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist and a member of the Orthopedic Section, Sports Section, and Home Physical Therapy Section of the American Physical Therapy Association.

Dr. Johnson spent the first 6 years of his professional career teaching within the USC Physical Therapy program. He was an instructor for both the Basics of Patient Management course and the Clinical Management of the Patient with Orthopedic Disorders course. He continues to serve as a primary mentor within the Orthopedic Residency program and is also a mentor for the sports residency program for the Division of Physical Therapy. Furthermore, he is a clinical instructor working with third year physical therapy students during the fall and spring semesters. In addition, he has been an instructor for the Musculoskeletal examination labs for the Introduction to Clinical Medicine courses for the USC Keck School of Medicine.


Dr. Johnson has had the opportunity to be involved with teaching in continuing education throughout the duration of his career. He currently serves as one of the primary instructors within the Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy’s Orthopedic Physical Therapy Boot Camp. In this capacity Dr. Johnson will lead classes related to the management of the patient with Thoracic pathology, Shoulder pathology, and Hand/Wrist and Elbow pathology. In addition to USC continuing education, Dr. Johnson has had the opportunity to teach in other countries throughout the world. In 2014 Dr. Johnson taught as clinic faculty at the Kenya Medical Training College Higher Diploma Program, which is sponsored by Richard Jackson, PT, DPT, OCS and the Jackson Clinics. He taught physiotherapists in Nairobi, Kenya who were working towards their advance physical therapy diploma. He is scheduled to return to Kenya to teach in the program again in 2016. 


Dr. Johnson is highly involved within the California Physical Therapy Association serving as a Director on the California Physical Therapy Association’s Board of Directors. He also serves as a California Delegate for the American Physical Therapy Associations House of Delegates and an Assembly Representative for the Assembly of Representatives for the California Physical Therapy Association.
Dr. Johnson has a true passion for his craft and is continually energized by the opportunity to work with both his patients and students on a daily basis.
