• Admissions Requirements
    The application process for the Sports Physical TherapyResidency Program involves the following components:

    • Application to the Residency via RF-PTCAS
      • Letters of Recommendation (3)
      • Career Statement
    • Additional USC essay question 
    • Current California PT license (if applicable - If not currently licensed, proof of eligibility will be required prior to acceptance into the program. You must be licensed to practice PT in California prior to starting the program in August).
    • Formal interview


    Graduates of APTA-accredited programs in physical therapy may apply for the residency program. Residents must be eligible for and obtain licensure as a Physical Therapist in the State of California at or near the beginning of their residency.  

    Residents must also possess one of the following designations for emergency response at the beginning of their residency: Certified Athletic Trainer, Licensed EMT, or Certified Emergency Responder (through the APTA sports section).  

    Recent graduates, as well as experienced clinicians, are encouraged to apply.

    The deadline for receipt of all required documents is December 15 of each year.
    If the applicant qualifies for an interview these will be conducted in January and February.
    Decision Notification: Applicants will be notified of the committee's decision by early March.
