A
post-doctoral Fellowship is available in the Center
for Cerebral Palsy, University of California at Los
Angeles. This position includes advanced clinical training
and research in cerebral palsy. A primary role will
be to participate in a research project entitled PEDALS,
Pediatric Endurance Development and Limb Strengthening
for Children with Cerebral Palsy. This project is part
of the PT Clinical Research Network, a multi-site study,
funded by the Foundation for Physical Therapy and coordinated
by the Department of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy
at the University of Southern California. The effect
of a bicycling intervention on strength, function and
endurance will be assessed in children with the spastic
diplegic form of cerebral palsy. Research will take
place over the next 3 years. The Fellow will participate
in weekly inter-disciplinary team clinics assessing
persons with cerebral palsy throughout the lifespan
and receive training in clinical gait analysis. Additional
opportunities exist to participate in related investigations
of motor dysfunction in cerebral palsy.
Position
Requirements: Physical therapist with clinical experience
treating patients with neurological disorders. Recent
PhD in the area of motor control or biomechanics is
preferred. An Advanced Master's or a DPT will be considered.
Responsibilities:
Coordination of patient scheduling, data collection
and data analyses; supervision of students assisting
with this project; organization of data for statistical
analyses, interpretation; scientific presentations and
manuscript preparation.
