Influence of Estrogen on Skeletal Muscle Catabolism and Inflammation in Young Women

The Clinical Exercise Research Center is conducting a study to explore the influence of estrogen on muscle after exercise in young women.

You may be eligible to participate if you are:
• A woman between the age of 21-30 years
• Either NOT taking birth control for at least 3 months OR
TAKING birth control for at least 3 months
• Willing to participate in muscle stimulation
• Willing to visit the USC Health Sciences Campus 4 times over a period of 3-4 weeks

This study also offers optional participation in 2 muscle biopsies about 3 hours apart. Participation in muscle biopsies is not required to participate in the rest of the study.

Compensation will be provided.

Final eligibility will be determined by clinical staff during the first visit.
