The Role of the Board
The role of the Board of Councilors is to enhance the quality of education at the Division of Biokinesiology & Physical Therapy through counsel in the following areas:
- Leadership in fund-raising efforts to meet the Division’s objectives
- Review and support of the major elements of the strategic plan for the development of the Division
- Key consultation to the Division Chair
- Advice on issues of primary importance to the future of the Division’s teaching, practice and research missions
The Board of Councilors of the Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy is composed of prominent members of the community representing various facets of the physical therapy profession including clinicians, consumers, and manufacturers. The board and its chair are appointed by the president of the University, upon the recommendation of the chair of the Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy. The term of membership is three years. Criteria for membership on the board include:
- Demonstrated leadership in the physical therapy profession, or in a related field, and a genuine interest in biokinesiology and physical therapy education and research
- Ability to attend board meetings
- Commitment to promoting the interests of the Division by serving as an advocate in the wider community
- Willingness to participate in fund-raising efforts by setting an example through a personal or corporate/family foundation gift and by assisting in the identification of potential sources of funds on the Division’s behalf
- Members of the Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy Board of Councilors are recognized by the
- University of Southern California for leadership in the university’s fund-raising campaign.
