Master of Science (MS) in Biokinesiology with an emphasis in Sports Science

  • The Master of Science in Biokinesiology with an emphasis in Sports Science (approval pending) prepares graduates to become a member of a multi-disciplinary team for athlete performance and well-being. MS students conduct basic or clinical research usually under the direction of a principal investigator and will complete an internship in a research laboratory or sports science setting. This requires that they are conversant in all areas of biokinesiology and that they are able to conceptualize all aspects of experimental design across several levels of analysis. The curriculum strikes a balance between providing students with a broad exposure to the variety of disciplines within biokinesiology and giving students the advanced skills necessary to excel in a specialized area related to sport and exercise. Graduates will have a theoretical and practical understanding of the concepts and tools used in sports performance assessment and interpretation with respect to injury, injury risk and optimal performance.

Why Should I Come to USC?
““An MS in Biokinesiology with an emphasis in Sports Science will prepare graduates for careers in the fast growing sports science profession. The program provides students with master’s level knowledge of the foundations of sport specific demands in the areas of exercise science, biomechanics and motor control. In addition, it requires students achieve aptitude in athlete assessment and interpretation in a specialized area by integrating the use of current technology into research and internship experiences.”
