Admission will be considered for the fall semester only.Application deadline is November 1st

    Applicants must meet all general admission requirements of the university. Admission requirements include a superior grade point average in cumulative undergraduate and graduate course work (if applicable). In addition, applicants should score at least 160 on the verbal section and 150 on the quantitative section of the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) and have some research experience. Students admitted for the Master of Science degree are not automatically admitted to the Doctor of Philosophy program. The Master of Science is not required as a prerequisite to the Ph.D. is highly advised.

    Ph.D. Applicants should contact the Faculty member with whom they want to work and discuss the program.  

    The application process for the M.S. and Ph.D. Programs in Biokinesiology Program involves the following component


    Complete a USC Graduate Application on-line. You will be able to login and out anytime to continue your application.  Please note,  you will not be able to make any revisions once the application has been submitted.
    You must upload your Statement of Purpose, and a resume to the on-line application.  Please see the FAQs on the USC Graduate Admission Office website.  The M.S. Program and Ph.D.Program in Biokinesiology is listed under the Independent Health Professions


    Applicants should score at least 160 on the verbal section and 150 on the quantitative section of the Graduate Record Examination(GRE). Your scores are considered valid only if earned within five years to the month of your intended first term at USC. (For example, no earlier than August 1 five years prior if applying for the fall term).  ETS Code for the GRE's:4852

    3.  TOEFL EXAM

    Toefl exam is required for International Applicants only. Please see the International Student FAQs section of the USC Graduate Application website.

    Transcripts in original language of issuance: International students who have earned their degree outside the United States must check

    country-specific requirements  to determine if  original-language copies of their academic records is needed.    In such cases, a separate,word-for-word, English-language translation of all academic records must also be submitted. The translation should either be issued directly from the school itself or by a professional, certified translator. It must contain all information shown on the original-language documents and "mirror" them as precisely as possible. Dual-language transcripts are also acceptable.

    Credential evaluation:  Please note that USC does not accept or recognize credential  evaluation reports from outside agencies (e.g. WES, ECE,etc.) for the purposes of admission review.




    Use the following questions as they relate to your clinical/academic circumstance, to assist in the preparation of your statement of purpose

    • Why have you chosen to apply for admissions to the USC Divisionof Biokinesiology & Physical Therapy?
    • Which USC Faculty Member do you wish to do your research with?
    • What is the area of your current research or clinical interest?
    • Why are you interested in the advanced degree of which you are applying?
    • What are your professional goals and objectives?
    • How do you plan to accomplish these goals?
    • How do you consider this program will facilitate the accomplishment of your professional goals?
    • By achievement of your professional goals, how do you feel you may contribute to the field of physical therapy and/or Biokinesiology?


      Applicants are required to submit a minimum of three letters of recommendation. We strongly suggest that you include individuals who are able to comment on your academic and your research capabilities and potential.  Please ask the evaluator to complete an electronic reference for you through the on-line USC Graduate Application.



    Interviews for the Ph.D. program in Biokinesiology will be conducted by invitation only.  The MS program does not require interviews.



    Once completed, your application file will enter the review process.   Typically admission decisions are made by the end of February.
