  • What are the Tuition rates for the MS program?

    The Tuition rate for Fall 2017 is $1,800 per unit. Completion of the degree requires 32 units or $57,600 in Tuition fees for students entering in Fall 2017.

    Is Financial Aid available for International Students?

    No. Governmental financial aid is not available for international students. International students must provide proof of ability to pay tuition and living expenses while enrolled in the program. More information about financial aid can be found here.

    Does the Division provide teaching or research assistantships for students enrolled in the MS program?

    No. The Division does not provide teaching or research assistantships for students enrolled in the MS program.

    Do I need to be a Physical Therapist to apply to the MS program?

    No. Biokinesiology is inherently interdisciplinary, and we welcome applicants with backgrounds in various fields.

    When is the Application deadline?

    The Application deadline is November 1. Only one annual Application cycle with a Fall Semester start date is offered for the MS program.

    What is Biokinesiology?

    Biokinesiology is the study of the biological basis of both healthy and disordered human movement.

    What degree should I hold to apply to the MS program?

    A Bachelor’s degree or higher with a science major (or equivalent) is needed to apply.

    How long is the MS program?

    Students typically complete the program in two years.

    Are interviews a required part of the Application process?

    No. Formal interviews are not a required part of the application process, however they are highly recommended. You or the admissions committee can request an interview at any time. Prospective students are encouraged to contact faculty members with whom they are interested in working.

    What is the minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) for Admissions?

    The minimum GPA to apply is 3.0. Competitive applicants typically have GPA’s of 3.5 or higher.

    What is the minimum Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score for Admissions?

    The minimum GRE score required to apply is 300 (Verbal & Quantitative combined). Competitive Applicants typically have GRE scores that are 308 and higher.

    What are the minimum TOEFL scores for International Students

    There is no minimum TOEFL score requirement for International Students; however, students admitted with a TOEFL score below 600 (paper-based exam) or 237 (computer-based exam) will be required to take an English proficiency course.

    Is there a Master’s Thesis requirement for degree completion?

    No. There is no Master’s Thesis requirement; however, students must sit for a comprehensive examination in order to graduate. In addition, a year-long research experience is a program requirement.

    Can students complete the MS program on a part-time basis or as part of a distance-learning program?

    No. Students are required to be full-time students to complete the MS program.
