Dr. Kathy Sullivan Honored by Alma Maters

Dr. Kathy Sullivan, associate professor of clinical physical therapy in the USC Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy, has been honored by her alma maters Northwestern University, Chicago, Illinois and Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Dr. Sullivan received her master of science in physical therapy with an emphasis on the study of motor control and motor learning in 1987. On April 21, Dr. Sullivan gave the commencement address to the graduating Class of 2012 from Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, Department of Physical Therapy and Movement Sciences. Dr. Sullivan reminded the doctor of physical therapy graduates that, “…we are professionals; remember you leave here today not to find a good job as a physical therapist. You leave here today as a professional who will take an oath to serve society; to care for any person who needs a physical therapist."

On April 28, Dr. Sullivan was honored at the Marquette University Alumni PT Annual Event as the recipient of the 2012 College of Health Sciences Distinguished Alumna of the Year Award. Dr. Sullivan received her bachelor of science in physical therapy from the Physical Therapy Program at Marquette University in 1978. Since her graduation, the health science and health professional programs have grown to become the College of Health Sciences which awards degrees in physical therapy, athletic training, biomedical sciences, clinical laboratory science, exercise science, physician assistant, and speech pathology and audiology.
