Clinical Research Evaluator

  •  Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy
    University of Southern California

The USC Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy is seeking a Clinical Research Evaluator to provide outcome assessment evaluations at various Southern California clinical sites for the NIH sponsored ICARE (Interdisciplinary Comprehensive Arm Rehabilitation Evaluation) stroke initiative.

ICARE is a multisite, randomized, controlled, single blinded study investigating an evidence-based arm therapy as compared to standard types of therapy for individuals post-stroke. This is a National Institutes of Health (NINDS & NICHD) sponsored study. ICARE is headquartered at USC, and with joint centers at Emory University in Atlanta and National Rehab Hospital in Washington, D.C.

The Clinical Research Evaluator conducts selected outcome assessments at timed intervals pre- and post-intervention. The role of the evaluator is crucial for ensuring that the highest quality of data is collected to provide useful information to current and future trials of experimental interventions. Opportunities exist for the Evaluator to collaborate with the study investigators and other researchers to investigate secondary outcome measures for publication.

The study will provide paid training, and each evaluator must pass standardization testing prior to beginning work with study subjects. Candidates must be CA-licensed PT's or OT's, with experience working with stroke. This is a grant funded, benefits eligible position at USC. USC is an Equal Opportunity Employer and provides an excellent benefits package (

Evaluations will be conducted at ICARE Southern California clinical sites, including Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, Casa Colina Centers for Rehabilitation in Pomona, Huntington Rehabilitation Medicine Associates in Pasadena, Long Beach Memorial Medical Center in Long Beach, and Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center in Downey.

This is an excellent opportunity to be a part of the second largest stroke rehabilitation study in history while improving your clinical evaluation skills!
